Who Is Eligible For Tier 1 Visa
The UK Tier 1 visa is aimed at individuals with a combination of skills, educational qualifications and work experience. Tier 1 visas replace the previous HSMP and IGS visas, along with a number of other categories.
The minimum requirement to qualify for Tier 1 visa is 75 points. In addition, you must also score a bonus 10 points for the maintenance funds requirement to meet the acceptance criteria. Over the four point scoring categories, a maximum of 120 points can be obtained.
Age (Maximum 20 Points):
Up to a maximum of 20 points can be awarded, based on your age.
Education (Maximum 50 Points):
Points aee awarded based on the equivalence of your highest academic qualification or equivalent professional qualifications:
The UK Government will be assessing the qualification you have obtained from your home country against the UK NARIC database to ensure it is considered equivalent to a UK qualification. Past Earnings (Maximum 45 Points):
Points are awarded based on your earnings over the last 12 months and these must be within the UK. In the instance you have been on maternity leave, the previous 12 months prior to the maternity leave are considered.
UK Experience (Maximum 5 Points):
You will be awarded a bonus 5 points if you can satisfy either of the following:
The country of earnings for the last 12 months is the UK and you have earned at least £16,000.
You have studied in the UK for a full year within the last 5 years
Maintenance Funds:
You will need to show available funds to support yourself and your dependents for the continuation of your stay in the UK. The funds that each applicant will need to show are based on the latest cost of living figures.
Each applicant will need to show savings of £800 to support themselves. If you have any dependants you will need to show a further £1600 for each dependant, unless you have been in the country for 12 months, in which case they must show a further £533 for each dependent. |
