The UK Tier 1 Visa replaces the previous Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP), International Graduates Scheme (IGS), innovator visa and entrepreneur visa.
The UK Tier 1 visa is aimed at individuals with a combination of skills, educational qualifications and work experience. Tier 1 visas replace the previous HSMP and IGS visas, along with a number of other categories.
In general, once your Tier 1 visa application is approved, you can live and work in the UK for any employer you like. You have the same access to the UK jobs maket as a UK national. You do not need to obtain sponsorship from an employer. You may also set up in business. This is the key difference between a work permit and the Tier 1 visa scheme. Unlike other tiers, Tier 1 applicants do not need to arrange for a sponsor ahead of obtaining the visa. |
